Hi friends, we’re (Kaitlin and Sarah) back with another fashion week recap. The next few weeks are the Autumn/Winter Ready to Wear 2017 collections and we will once again be bringing you our favorite collections and looks. Following our two NYFW recaps (here and here), London and Milan, we have the perfect mixture of classic-meets-modern in Paris.
KJS: I am digging this leather and fur combo paired with this little bikini-like top. I mean, logistically this outfit would work best in a California winter, but I love it nonetheless.
KJS: This satin skirt and velvet boots are perfect for fall. Also, I am slightly obsessed with this color combo; navy blues and olive? All about that for fall. This whole look is so relaxed and pretty, I want to wear it every day.
KJS: Okay, you guys. I know this look looks simple, but this collection was rad AF. It was so empowering with it’s message. These silky flowy mini-skirts with the loose tops are the perfect combo, especially when in this plumb color in Look 26. Nevertheless, she persisted.
SAS: I LOVED this collection. Deep, rich jewel tones throughout and gorgeous draping. How can you not get behind a beautiful mini dress that says PERSIST in capital letters?
SAS: I don’t know what it is about Look 24 but I just can’t take my eyes off of it. The fur mixed with the satin is a gorgeous mix of delicate and heavy.
KJS: Another great message coming from Ortiz to spread awareness of politics and sisterhood. The ruffles and bows are the epitome of girly and I am HERE for this girly-ness in crimson velvet.
SAS: Johanna Ortiz hails from Columbia so her choice of a Latina model makes me so insanely happy. The bright bold colors are beautiful and another of my favorite casual fashion combos is a graphic t-shirt with a long skirt. I would wear Look 29 all day, every day. SISTERHOOD.
KJS: Oh man, you guys. I love this layered chiffon look in Look 59. It looks like fresh berries during summertime and I think that’s just what we all need in the middle of winter. Also, I’m noticing red was definitely the color of Paris Fashion Week.
SAS: First of all I have to say I loved the length of a lot of these dresses. Lots of tea and maxi length gowns which are my personal favorite for the colder months. I, like Kaitlin, think the berry gowns are absolute perfection for the autumn months. I find berry to be a nice alternative to pink for the colder months because it’s in the same color family, just a hint cooler.
KJS: I’m going to need to add this coat to my closet. Blush pink is my color (if you know me IRL, you know this to be true) and the coziness of this coat is what I need when it hits below 65 (I’m from LA, gimme a break).
SAS: This Joie collection was one of my favorite non runway offerings. The looks feel like a nice combo of springtime colors with fall fabrics and cuts aka my personal sweet spot. The length of the dress and coat in Look 20 is my ideal autumn look.
KJS: I have never heard of Obando before, but I am now a follower. I absolutely adore everything about this shoot. Those gowns – flowing and silky and modern; those colors – warm and inviting; and that scenery is my homeland. I am obsessed. Look 6 is something I would wear to a party in summer.
SAS: Kaitlin and I picked the exact same looks for Obando! The shoot location is stunning and really adds another element to the beautiful clothes. Draping, draping, MOVEMENT, draping.
KJS: Reem Acra, bringing spring to the cold winters since 2017 (or maybe earlier, I don’t know). These layers of the skirt and the polka-dotted fabric covered in bright flowers is absolutely beautiful. It’s somehow dainty and elegant at the same time.
SAS: Reem Acra 100% raided the Reign wardrobe for inspiration because all of these looks are straight out of Mary, Queen of Scots’ closet. Look 36 is just BEGGING to be worn at a coronation.
KJS: This is just so much fun. The button-down top feels very Japanese-inspired to me, and I dig it (kawaii!). And this SKIRT is so freaking cute and fluffy.
KJS: This is a transparent dress with a high neckline, frills, and a giant bow that is covered in strawberries. So basically, this is pretty much all of my favorite things in one place.
KJS: I am IN LOVE with all of the looks in Martin Grant’s collection, but I forced myself to only choose 4 of them to show here. Can I just point out really quickly this shoe/tights situation? Their heels are showing and for some reason I really really like it. It is such a small thing that makes a normally classic outfit just a bit more fashion-forward.
SAS: HELL YES I loved this collection. Again with the spring leaning colors but executed with fall fabrics. The bronze pantsuit, coat, hat situation going on in Look 17 is EXTREMELY STRONG.
KJS: Red was the color of the season and Givenchy took this to heart. Givenchy is currently in between designers at the moment, so this was a line that was a surprise for everyone. Look 25 I love because of the frilly peplum blazer and pantsuit made entirely out of sparkles. Taylor Swift circa Red Tour would have word this in one of her shows, I’m pretty sure. Also, look 26 is amazing with the mixtures of fabric and patterns. LOVE.
KJS: Holy molies, these COATS are so cute. Love how the bright colors are paired with the black tights and shoes. Honestly, what my whole winter wardrobe looks like.
SAS: Y’all already KNOW that my aesthetic is Warrior Queen Chic and these two looks are exactly that.
KJS: Usually I’m not a huge fan of Alexander McQueen (I wish that I was, I’m just not edgy enough to pull it off), but I love this look in 25. The blocks of gold and black are sexy and edgy but more feminine that McQueen’s usual things, and that’s probably why I like it so much.
KJS: BUT YOU GUYS, THESE BOOTS?! I AM NEVER WEARING ANY BOOTS EVER AGAIN UNLESS THEY LOOK LIKE THIS. The rest of the outfit is good too. But like. The BOOTS.
KJS: These skirts are so beautiful and angelic and I just want to look like this on my wedding day. Boots and wind-blown hair included.
KJS: Another blush coat that is to die for. This is pretty much what I imagine every single woman in Paris wearing on a winter day (or probably just me because I’m obsessed with blush and fuzziness and this tea-length skirt).
And that’s a wrap on Autumn/Winter Ready to Wear 2017! If you’re still reading this, thank you for sticking with us on this long and tiring fashion journey. We hope you found as much inspiration within these collections as we did.
