Hi friends, we’re (Kaitlin and Sarah) back with another fashion week recap. The next few weeks are the Autumn/Winter Ready to Wear 2017 collections and we will once again be bringing you our favorite collections and looks. Following our two NYFW recaps (here and here) and London is colorful and daring Milan.
SAS: Starting Milan off with cool tones and chiffon. One of my all time favorite fashion combos is a soft skirt or dress with a tough jacket or sweater like in Look 25. I find it ultra feminine yet badass at the same time which is my personal sweet spot.
KJS: I am in love with the cool tones and chiffon in this collection. I love the toughness that the heavy sweaters or big coats add to the soft feminine skirts.
SAS: Oh my Gucci (that was a horrible joke but I refuse to delete it). Prints on prints on PRINTS. These are giving me strong Renaissance vibes and I fucking love it. I mean that cape in 48 is not of this earth. The embroidery is stunning and I love the pop of pink to offset all of the aqua.
SAS: This entire collection was full of dark and muted tones with pops of studs and metals. Check those metal waist accents in both 18 and 28 yas mama.
SAS: I picked SO MANY favorites from this collection because it was so beautiful. The running theme here is movement and draping. Gigi’s opening look actually made me audibly gasp. I also have to mention the beauty look here because I think it is the perfect compliment to the soft fabrics; a harsh smokey eye and nude face.
KJS: Oh man, this line was great. So many textures, colors, and different styles. I think my favorites are Looks 22 and 43. The mustard yellow dress paired with the burgundy flower on the waist is so fall to me. As far as Look 43 goes, I feel like the dress is basically a galaxy that probably a goddess would wear.
KJS: I totally loved how different each look was in this collection. The fabrics were so unique from look to look. There were soft feminine dresses like in Look 4, warm and cozy pairings like in Look 9, and sexy dresses that show a little more skin like in Look 37.
SAS: Fendi’s show was filled with warm tones mixed in with dark neutrals. My personal favorite looks were 8 (THAT JACKET THO), 11 (THOSE BOOTS THO) and 48 (THAT LACE DETAILING THO).
KJS: YO, Look 48 is the best thing I have ever seen. BURGUNDY VELVET BOOTS and LACE DETAILS?! That’s the perfect outfit for fall. You’ve found it. It’s here. That’s all.
SAS: If there was a winner at Milan Fashion Week for fairytale collection then Luisa Beccaria would take the W. These gowns are an ethereal and bohemian dream. I am a huge fan of long sleeved maxi dresses (which is basically this entire collection) but my absolute favorite was look 41 because of the stunning metallic tones.
KJS: Honestly one of my favorite collections of all of the Fall lines so far. Look 8 has the killer cute double strapped heels and the long velvet fashion scarf. Look 29 is 1920’s meets winter meets fairies. And Look 34? Can I wear this as my wedding dress? Veil included. Perfect, thanks.
SAS: Les Copains did a fantastic job of mixing different kinds of fabrics and silhouettes. Furs and mini dresses, sheer fabric and embroidery, and trench coats and knee socks. 10/10 would wear it all.
KJS: Ugh, I adore combinations of textures. The fur, the knee-high socks with heels, the leather crop top paired with a long wool coat… It’s all beautiful.
SAS: THAT. GLITTER. SUIT. Also have to give it up for this lovely pink runway, extremely well chosen.
KJS: EMBROIDERED FLOWERS ON A SHEER GOWN?! Oh heavens. Also, velvet emerald flats. I’m totally digging the velvet trend that’s coming for the fall. MY BODY IS READY.
KJS: Oh, good old Moschino. I love the wildness and the statements. This season was about recycling (notice the cardboard boxes on the ground, the cardboard box dress and the bubble wrap dress.) Honestly, I would wear that bubble wrap dress in real life. Bow included. How in the world did they make bubble wrap look sexy? #goals
KJS: If you know me in my real life, you know I’m all about lounge wear (only my lounge wear is not as high fashion as this, obvi.) Look 4 is so extra, the Leo in me is obsessed. Looks 10 and 12 are so comfy too. The long necklace in Look 10 makes the whole thing look a little roaring 20s (hey, can you tell I love the golden era?) and the ROBE in Look 12 I need.
KJS: I love love love love the monotones of these looks. Each and every one is cozy, fall/winter appropriate, and fresh feeling. The warm corals in the makeup makes the looks even more bright, fresh, and fun. Also, the GLASSES in Look 21?! OMG YES.
SAS: I know both of these dresses are very similar BUT the color palettes alone make it worth it to post both FIGHT ME.
KJS: I literally thought the same things about these dresses. I would have chosen them both, too, Sarah.
SAS: SOMEONE PUT PLANTS IN A RUNWAY SHOW I AM SO HERE FOR THIS. Also the woman rocking her natural grey in look 86 made me smile so big. She is STUNNING.
KJS: PLANT BABIES! I’m not sure why they’re there, but I love them.
SAS: DID SOMEONE SAY MUSTARD??? Also the gown in 38 screams night time beautiful dark navy and I love it.
KJS: I AM IN LOVE with this gown. Wowzas. It’s so classic, so modern, so elegant. The soft silk skirt with thigh-high slits and the deep scoop of the neckline make something classic a bit sexy, and I am here for that.
KJS: OKAY OKAY OKAY OKAY. Look 27 is what I would wear to a first date, because I would really want the guy to know that while I look sweet and angelic like this dress, I’m also a badass who will kick your ass with these thigh-high leather boots. And Look 37 is what I’ll wear to our wedding, should the poor boy survive.
KJS: I would wear each and every one of these looks every damn day. If my wardrobe consisted of just these three outfits, I would be okay with that. Especially Look 17. *heart eyes*
SAS: First things first, the D&G collection was over 120+ looks. I’m not even kidding, it was HUGE. The overall collection went with a royal inspired vibe and lots of color, both of which I am on board for. They also forwent using normal runway models and hired a bunch of celebrities and other people in entertainment to walk in the show including but not limited to, couples, sisters, brothers and children. My favorite look was 72 partially because I love the dress and partially because those little girls are so cute. Also THE CROWNS throughout this collection were to die for. Secondly, have to mention the beauty look because I really enjoyed it. Soft cheeks made way for winged liner, bold brows and a mix of nude and bold lips.
KJS: I had a really hard time going through this collection because I have an internal struggle when it comes to D&G. The brothers are known for being jerks to celebrities (calling them fat, ugly, etc), and I have a hard time supporting bullies. But as always, their stuff was beautiful and rich. The beauty looks are by far my favorite part of the collection.
SAS: Gotta have this pink fur gotta have this pink fur gotta have this pink fur.
KJS: This fur crop top over the long-sleeved, collared, embroidered dress? I dig it.
Ciao Milan. See you next week for the conclusion to fashion month, Paris.
