Before I delve into the best lipstick of my life, I am going to provide a little background about how I came to discover this gem.
A fun (embarrassing) fact about me: I actually spend real money on things that celebrities endorse/promote/sponsor on social media. I have bought workout shoes via Khloe Kardashian, sunglasses via Vanessa Hudgens, and honestly the list goes on. I am aware that I am a mildly pathetic human life form. You might be wondering where this is going right now (I swear I have a point), and that point is that I discovered this holy grail lipstick via social media + The Bachelorette icon, Kaitlyn Bristowe.
Before she was one of the most iconic Bachelorettes, Kaitlyn was just your every day Canadian plebeian trying to win the heart of Chris Soules. She had newfound internet fame and would regularly share her outfit/make up details from Chris’ seasons during episodes. Thus I came to discover this lipstick via twitter.
As I get ready to delve into this one, it should be noted that this is literally the first lipstick I have ever worn in my 24 years of life. I only own three lipsticks (all MAC) and this is still the only one I have ever put on and not immediately wiped off.
On to the actual review:
Flat Out Fabulous by MAC, in one word, is perfect. For all intents and purposes, I will be talking about the matte color because who actually wears non matte colors anymore? I never previously wore lipstick because I hated the sticky feeling it left on my lips. I didn’t want traces of my makeup left on my glass every time I had a sip of anything. As soon as I put this color on, I immediately knew it was different.
As soon as you put it on, it feels like you aren’t even wearing anything. I honestly notice it less than when I wear notice an every day chapstick or lip balm. I definitely recommend putting primer on first (I actually never do this, but the matte shade is matte AF).
The best thing about this lipstick is that it is so long lasting. I lasted an entire eight hour day of wine tasting with no fade and zero lipstick left on my countless glasses of wine. The first time I ever wore this color was a night out in Vegas, and I kid you not when I say that I woke up looking Flat Out Fab chic (reality: I looked like a hot mess but my lipstick was still in tact).
The color is a bright pink/fuchsia and adds the perfect pop of color to any look. It dresses up my casual all black every day look and also compliments any outfit that has a shade of pink in it.
Maybe this article is about my favorite lipstick or maybe it’s an ode to Kaitlyn Bristowe. Either way I am totally okay with it. Long story short, if you see something you like, try it! I never would have found this amazing color and all day lip wear if I hadn’t been inspired by something I saw online.
My parting thoughts: BUY THIS LIPSTICK and follow @kaitlynbristowe on Twitter (ily, girl)
