Hi friends, we’re (Kaitlin and Sarah) back with another fashion week recap. The next few weeks are the Autumn/Winter Ready to Wear 2017 collections and we will once again be bringing you our favorite collections and looks. Following after our two NYFW recaps (here and here) is beautiful London.
SAS: LFW is known for being on the extreme side of fashion week but this first collection is actually pretty tame. I am obsessed with both of these prints (ARE YOU SICK OF BROCADE YET BECAUSE I’M NOT) and the tights/heels combo is really working for me.
KJS: I love the softness of Look 22. It’s 70’s meets Little House on the Prairie meets the modern world, and I love it. It’s more romantic than most of the other looks in this collection, so maybe that’s why it stuck out so much to me. I LOVE ROMANTIC LOOKS.
SAS: The entire Daks collection just screamed BRITISH to me. Tailored, clean lines, and cool tones. All perfect for autumn/winter.
KJS: So so British. I love the classic feel of Daks’ collection. Okay, and Look 33?! That pinstripe skirt and that SLIT? Who knew pinstripes could be so sexy?
SAS: Julien Macdonald is one of my favorite shows of LFW and this seasons collection was stunning. The romper in Look 10 is something that Queen Bey might wear for a tour number and I am LIVING FOR IT.
KJS: YES SARAH YES. Queen Bey would totally wear look 10.
SAS: Y’all when I saw Look 4 I literally GASPED because it looks like liquid gold on a gown. The draping is not of this earth.
KJS: I thought the same thing about Look 4. It looks like the dress is melted gold and I love it.
SAS: First of all we have to talk about the badass makeup look for this collection, the smokiest of all smokey eyes and I am HERE FOR IT. I am very hit and miss with Versace but I really did enjoy this seasons collection. The technicolor dress in 42 speaks to me on a spiritual level.
SAS: These are two of the more wearable looks from the Topshop offering, I am particularly into Look 25 because of those stripy bell sleeves. Also, MUSTARD YELLOW ANYONE???
KJS: I’m not entirely sure in which situation you would need to wear a long coat while wearing a mini skirt, but honestly, I would like to be in that situation if I could wear this outfit from Look 26. Also, I’m obsessed with the silks in Look 34. That soft pink satin dress is so shiny and sexy and perfect for a date night.
SAS: ALL THE BELL SLEEVES. ALL THE BELL BOTTOMS. ALL THE ZIPPERS.
SAS: These Mulberry looks are legit my dream looks. Fashionable giant house dresses in amazing prints. Take all my money.
SAS: These are the warrior looks of my dreams. That crop top in Look 28 is FIERCE AF.
SAS: I hadn’t heard of Mary Katrantzou before this season and my god WHERE HAVE I BEEN. This is the color inspiration collection of dreams. Actual dreams because do you see the night sky somehow embroidered into Look 33? DO YOU SEE IT? I can’t even lie, I looked through this collection about four times because I was so blown away by the fabrics. 1000% obsessed.
SAS: Temperley London is another hit or miss for me but these two looks were hits. The sparkly pink gown in Look 27 is fucking amazing and no one can tell me otherwise.
KJS: OKAY BUT THESE SKIRTS? I mean, I don’t mean to brag or anything, but I’m pretty well-known at work for my business casual skirt choices, and Looks 23 and 28 are going to be added to me “to-replicate” list. I’m honestly in love. Absolute adoration.
SAS: Antonio Berardi’s AW17 collection truly felt like a FALL collection to me. The dark colors, the coats, the floor length dresses, all of it. It is so hard for me to pick one favorite so I’m going to pick two. I love the structure and color of the dress/coat in Look 24 but also cannot get over the movement in Look 32. Let’s say that look 24 is my battle uniform and Look 32 is my victory gown. Done.
KJS: AHHHHHHHHH is how I feel about this line. A lot of it was not particularly up my alley, but when I liked something, I really liked it. For example, Look 39.Obsessed with the sleeves and patterns and SLIT and THIGH HIGH BOOTS.
SAS: ERDEM HITTING ME WITH THE COLOR. More prints, more color, more everything.
KJS: I love the patterns in this collection. They’re so vintage and bright.
SAS: The entire Huishang Zhang collection felt very futuristic and awesome. Look 13 felt very Zenon while Look 30 felt like a combo of the 90s and outer space. I can dig it.
KJS: Like Sarah said, the line was pretty futuristic looking, but I was drawn to the pieces that were classic with a twist like in Look 2 and 26. Ro-man-tic.
KJS: The layers of this thing is amazing. I love the pairing of the button-up with the wrap-around sweater. Who would have thought a sweater like this could look so effortlessly cool.
KJS: Okay, YES to more silky looks and solid blocks of color. The movement of these dresses is so beautiful and ugh. It hurts my heart.
KJS: The velvet of this top is what my dreams are made of. The freaking CUT of that neckline is perfection. Show off those collar bones ladies!
KJS: Look, I didn’t really like a lot of this collection, but I’m a huge fan of this high-waisted-skirt-over-pants situation here. How can I pull this off in my real life?
KJS: Holy shit. This look is so simplistic and beautiful. The hair and makeup screams 1940’s pre-war era, and the high neck and lightness of the dress is a stunning pairing.
KJS: UMMMM?! The coat in Look 4 is so Gossip Girl and I adore it (hey can you guys tell I’m a big fan of Gossip Girl?) Look 28 is very Parisian. I love how the skirt and belt around her waist match. What a cute way to make a bulky leather jacket a bit more feminine. Also, where can I get these boots?
KJS: SO. MANY. PATTERNS. This almost makes me dizzy, but I kind of like it.
KJS: First, I love the sheer top of this dress. It’s soft and girly, but pair it with this coat and it suddenly turns edgy. Throw in some patent leather boots with heels and jewels, and you’ve got the perfect combination of “I’m a lady but I’ll kick your ass.” Which really is all I could hope to be in this world.
That’s all she wrote for London Fashion week. See you back here in about a week for Milan.
