My love of Glossier is nothing new. I have sung their praises before right on this very website and have continued using their products (even going so far to order seconds of the Milky Jelly, Boy Brow and Priming Moisturizer).
Two Monday’s ago (9/12) Glossier launched the newest addition to their skincare line – serums. For those of you unfamiliar with serums they are basically an extra shot of nutrients for you skin that you use after cleanser but before moisturizer. Different from toners and facial oils, serums fall somewhere in between and can range from $20 to $200.
Up until this point the only serums/facial oils I have used have been the Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate, Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, and Josie Maran Argan Oil Light. I ride or die for the Kiehls Midnight Recovery and literally use it every night, I tried the Estee Lauer but found it a little too thick for my personal taste and I only use the Josie Maran on days when I go makeup free and want a little more of a natural glow. My skin type leans toward normal on my cheeks and oily in my t-zone so I typically don’t need a ton of extra moisture in my skincare products and more look for glow, oil control and acne prevention.
Now that all of that background info is out of the way let’s get into the Glossier serums. Glossier came out with three different serums – Bounce, Glow and Pure. Each is priced at $28 individually or $65 for the three pack. Each serum contains two “hero ingredients” that dominate the main purpose of the serum because all skin is not created equal and some days you have a need for different products depending on what life is throwing at you.
- Super Bounce: Bounce’s hero ingredients are hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5. Bounce is ideal for people with dryer leaning skin or on days when your skin is feeling tight (or you maybe used a little too much toner). I personally haven’t found much use for Bounce because I do not regularly have dry skin but on the few days I did try it out I did notice my skin looked more moisturized after I had used my toner in the morning.
- Super Glow: Glow’s hero ingredients are vitamin C and magnesium. I LOVE Glow. I’ve been using it on my cheeks and under my eyes in the mornings after I cleanse and tone my face and it just melts into my skin and makes me look like I got an extra four hours of sleep. Glow is great for all skin types and for days when you just need a little bit of a pick me up or even on regular days when you’re going for that dewy glow.
- Super Pure: Pure’s hero ingredients are Niacinamide and Zinc. Out of all of the Super’s, I had the highest hopes for Pure. Made for when you’re breaking out or your skin is having a little freakout moment, Pure is supposed to calm down your skin and get it back on track. Being that the entire week that I was testing out the Supers I was also PMSing and on my period, I immediately reached for this bottle. Let me go on record as saying it was everything I wished it would be. After four days of using Pure in my night time skincare routine (cleanser, Pure, Midnight Recovery, eye cream, night cream) I have seen my hormonal breakouts get about 80% under control which is a huge difference from what usually happens when I am bleeding love. Pure, I love you.
Overall I am extremely happy with my Supers pack. While I don’t know if I will personally get a lot of use out of Bounce because of my personal skin type, I do know that Pure and Glow have both made it into my every day skincare routine. Glossier yet again knocking it out of the park. YAS LADIES.
