I love discovering new beauty brands. Testing out new skincare, experimenting with new eyeshadow pigments, swatching lipsticks, I love it all. But this year I have decided to kick up my skincare game and really focus on keeping my face looking baby youthful and clear as hell.
Today we’re specifically diving into the French Girl look. The French Girl Beauty routine is something that has been analyzed by bloggers and internet aficionados time and time again. If you don’t want to sift through hundreds of internet articles, it basically boils down to skincare, skincare, and more skincare. These French ladies don’t spend a lot of time on makeup so they make sure their skin looks fresh AF. Enter French Girl Organics.
French Girl Organics is a Seattle based indie beauty brand that started on Etsy and has recently expanded into a few brick and mortar stores, most notably Anthropologie. FGO specializes in small batch quantity and contains 100% organically sourced or wild-crafted ingredients and botanicals. Best of all, you are able to order sample sizes of their most popular products through their Etsy page so you don’t have to break the bank just to test run the brand.
I’ve been using FGO for about six weeks now and have really enjoyed the products I bought. My mini reviews are below, go forth and enjoy good skincare.
- Cafe Noir Polish ($38) – A full body scrub that is made with blended coffee beans, coconut oil, vanilla bean seeds and natural cane sugar. This scrub smells amazing and acts as an exfoliant while not totally stripping my skin. I use it about once a week and a little goes a long way.
- Cleansing Wash ($18) – This face wash is non foaming and made with activated charcoal, jojoba oil, green tea extract and soothing aloe vera. I find charcoal face washes to be extremely useful with my skin type when I’m feeling a little on the oily side or I’m breaking out. I like the FGO charcoal wash because it airs on the gentle side while still making me feel like I got a deep clean.
- Creme Fraiche Face Cream ($24) – This is my new go to night time face cream. I LOVE this stuff. I’ve been breaking out recently as a result of a change in diet and this face cream has really helped in taking down my redness and inflammation. Made with jojoba oil, shea butter, soothing floral distillates and green tea this is some good shit y’all. My only complaint is the scent. When applying the cream you get a fairly strong floral scent but it goes away after about five minutes so it’s not a deal breaker for me. However if you are sensitive to floral I would proceed with caution.
- Rose Lip Polish ($15) – This lip polish is SO GOOD. I’ve tried a few lip scrubs in my life and they always get the scrub part right but then they leave my lips feeling beat up and dry. The FGO lip polish is a scrub and moisturizer in one. Made with organic shea butter, olive oil, plant waxes and organic sugar, it smells like a rose peppermint dream and makes your lips feel exfoliated, plump and moisturized.
After six weeks of testing, I am proud to call myself an honorary French Girl. I love organic skincare and this brand hits it out of the park. Check out French Girl Organics on Etsy here.
