I’ve recently given in to my urge to buy tons of the cute pieces of flair that have started popping up EVERYWHERE in the past year. The world of flair is daunting, huge and overwhelming but I finally caved over Black Friday weekend and bought a ton of it on sale. Ask me if I have any regrets, ASK ME. The answer is…..absolutely not. I love all of my flair SO MUCH and have taken to putting it on jackets, backpacks, sweaters and shirts.
After my initial fawning over my cute little pins I realized there are only so many of them I can wear at once so some were going to have to stay home. I originally had them all in cute dish on my vanity but then realized, “these are ADORABLE and deserved to be admired.” My solution was to create a pennant/banner to pin them on that I could hang on my wall for all to see. I am in the absolute lowest class of sewer so believe me when I say that if I can sew this little banner, you can too. I’m also going to link below to some of my favorite flair websites and Etsy shops because #SupportYourLocalGirlGang amiright. Enjoy!
THINGS YOU NEED
- 1/2 a yard of felt in whichever color you choose
- 1 small pack/spool of thread
- 1 needle
- 1 wooden dowel 4-6 inches longer than the size of your pennant
Once you have all of your craft supplies it’s a pretty simple process. Fold your 1/2 yard of felt in half and stencil out the shape of your pennant. **(Make sure the bottom tip of the pennant is on the opposite side of the half fold, you want the top to have the fold so you can put the wooden dowel through at the very end.) Use fabric scissors or be very gentle with regular scissors to cut out your pennant.
Next take your thread and start stitching all along the sides and bottom of the pennant. I decided used embroidery thread because 1) I wanted the stitches to be thick and visible and 2) I am horrible at sewing with tiny needles and need the giant thread to help me out as much as possible. When you start to stitch the top of the pennant make sure to leave about an inch worth of fabric at the top to put your dowel through. Tie off your final stitch, push the dowel through, tie a piece of twine at each end and you are done! Put your cute AF pieces of flair on the pennant and display it proudly in your home for all of your friends to drool over.
